LAIA CABRERA & CO., co-founded by Laia Cabrera and Isabelle Duverger, is an award-winning team of film, animation, and visual artists based in New York. We create multimedia artworks, from traditional and experimental filmmaking to immersive interactive art installations. We also collaborate with Theater and Dance companies developing the scenography and projections.

Looking for Unity designer/developer in NY/NJ area for Interactive video installation / hybrid
Looking for a creative technologist, primarily a Unity developer/designer for a 360º video interactive installation, using Unity and 2+ Intel RealSense cameras for motion-tracking. We’ve used Nuitrack for the skeleton body tracking.
Our objective is to transform our latest immersive installation “Perennial Land - The Data Forest” into an interactive piece incorporating real-time data about the environment and make them interactive. The project is at once an art installation but also educational and meant to be travelling to Public Libraries, in order to reach communities who don’t necessarily have access to art and technology. Please find link to read more about the project here: https://www.laiacabreraco.com/perennialland
Internship Qualifications:
We need someone who has a good knowledge of Unity, familiar with video and interactive coding for installations and eager to explore new possibilities in the immersive art world.
We already created the set-up and coding for parts of the installation from one of our previous piece so the work would be to evolve from there for our new installations, improving responsiveness and creating new interactive narratives, such as incorporating real-time data.
In our portfolio, we have interactive gesture responsive installations but also WebAR apps, having some background in 3D modeling and Javascript will be a plus.
Internship Logistics:
This is an unpaid, hybrid role.
Location: Jersey City Downtown (Path to Grove Street station)
Transportation from NYC covered (Subway + PATH) with potential hiring opportunity ahead - project based/\.
Meeting Structure: work is done in person and remote with twice weekly meeting minimum, with exchange and feedback on the work an da schedule of focus points and objectives for the next weeks.
We are looking at an internship. Ideally we would love to have someone joining the team for a longer collaboration. We have various new installations scheduled, with the ability to travel and be hands-on, in the coming months.
