Spectrum HUB is an Ed Tech startup co-founded by Spectrum Works. The Hub aims to bridge the gap between an 80% unemployment rate for individuals with autism and a lack of knowledge in companies of how to successfully diversify and integrate them into their workforces. Spectrum HUB is a technology platform that connects stakeholders to information, content, and tools to implement employment programs. The HUB will make deep and systemic changes to the employment challenges faced by individuals with autism.

About the Role:

We’re looking for an organized, motivated, creative Learning Design Intern to help develop and manage our e-learning training and education materials on an interactive and engaging platform. You’d be joining a diverse and collaborative team at the start of an exciting project. This is a position with a high impact on the end users and on the company's product. It represents a complex and unique challenge to build something new together. In this role you would assist in the research, design, and development of interactive and engaging online training content.

Responsibilities:

The responsibilities can be divided into three main areas:

Design & Program Research

Assist in the preparation and development of the training programs. (Videos, quizzes, materials, interactive activities, templates, and other materials to be determined together.)

● Research online learning courses & training programs (benchmark, source ideas, etc.)

● Research autism training materials & courses (benchmark, source ideas, etc.)

● Analyze trends, research, and propose best practices in technology, delivery methods, user experience, and customer satisfaction

● Benchmark and propose knowledge and performance-based learning checks, assessments, and other mechanisms/methods to verify and/or remediate learning

Content Development

Collaborate in the drafting and creation of the written, visual, audio, video, and other content.

● Help to plan, develop, and deliver program content. (Write content for Spectrum HUB training courses & web.)

● Directly develop, in partnership with others involved in the project, materials and content

Requirements:

● Formal education and/or professional experience in technical training formats:

o Degree and/or practical experience in Instructional Design, Adult Learning, Corporate Learning, Multimedia Learning or a related field (i.e: Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Distance Learning, or related field)

o Minimum Bachelor‘s degree in education or related field, Master’s strongly preferred

● Experience with performance improvement and project management

● Demonstrated education and/or experience in research, e-learning, curriculum development or similar

Will be considered favorably:

● Experience with LMS architecture and deployment within a corporate learning environment

● Experience with curriculum writing and management

● Experience in e-learning course design and multimedia formats

● Experience performing training needs and audience analysis, user research, and competitor & customer discovery

● Industry certifications and/or significant work experience in instructional design, curriculum development, and/or content development

● Experience conducting quality analysis reviews of instructional materials or other related material

● Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following: Video editing tools and processes, filming, production, interviews, audio, etc. ; Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop)

● Experience with or understanding of LMS systems like Moodle, Saba or Blackboard, authoring tools like Captivate, Storyline, Claro or Lectora, graphical layout, digital audio, video and gaming asset usage in course development and SCORM packaging is a big plus.

● Written communication— demonstrated short and long form writing skills, strong copyediting and proofreading skills

● Oral communication—speaks clearly and persuasively; possesses ability to engage others; listens and gets clarification; responds well to questions

● Entrepreneurial spirit, self‐direction, and results‐orientation, demonstrating initiative, resourcefulness, and follow‐through

● Ability to think innovatively and creatively, and change course if necessary, to achieve desired results

Internship Information

● Type: Remote (in-person optional after September)

● Length: at least 12-16 hours weekly over a period of 13-15 weeks

● Availability: Spring, summer, and Fall semesters

● Type: Unpaid but travel stipend available
