As part of our mission to enhance research and teaching excellence within NYU, and to advance student learning and engagement as well as innovation, the Center for Faculty Advancement (CFA) supports the Immersive Technology Lab (iTLAB). Faculty interested in the potential of XR (eXtended Reality) technologies are invited to explore our services including guided introductions to virtual reality (VR), intermediate and advanced VR workshops, and immersive software training. We demonstrate the potential of these emerging technologies and work with you to determine the best methods to achieve your goals.
Students should have some skill/experience working with 3D tools and technologies (Unity 3D, Unreal Engine, Blender, etc.) along with the ability to take ownership of assigned tasks and contribute to advancing projects.
A strong interest (personal and professional) in virtual reality is essential, along with being comfortable using VR (if you’re subject to motion sickness this may not be for you).
This internship will contribute to our support of faculty utilizing virtual, augmented, and mixed reality in their teaching and research, along with the expansion of the iTLAB (Immersive Technology Lab).
Tasks may include creating materials for tutorials, immersive experiences, web content, research, and other related activities.
The specific project to which the intern will contribute will be determined based on iTLAB needs and student interests.
